Asencio's message after having to go to hospital: "It was just a scare"

A clash with Camavinga in an aerial challenge caused Asencio to leave the pitch on a stretcher and with a neck brace in the final stretch of the match against Benfica . The centre-back suffered a heavy blow and had to be taken to a hospital to undergo tests to determine the exact extent of his injury

Alvaro Arbeloa , after the match, sent a reassuring message about Asencio's health. "It's something with his neck, it doesn't seem serious," said the Real Madrid coach.

Later, it was the player himself who took to social media to explain that he was fine and also to celebrate that Real Madrid had qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League. "Thank you for all the messages of encouragement! It was just a scare. Let's go for the next round. HALA MADRID!!!" he wrote on his Instagram account.

Tense moments on the pitch

Asensio was treated on the pitch at the Bernabeu by Real Madrid's medical staff for more than five minutes after colliding with his teammate Camavinga and then had to leave the pitch on a stretcher

The two Real Madrid players collided in the air and the centre-back fell off balance to the turf . Asensio's place on the pitch was taken by Austrian David Alaba.
