Arsenal news: Gabriel Jesus issues future update as Gunners 'consider selling striker'

For Arsenal fans, the focus is firmly on the present. The Gunners are closing in on their first Premier League title in over two decades and remain firmly in contention in both the Champions League and the FA Cup .
Despite a few recent stumbles - including a damaging 2-0 defeat to title rivals Manchester City in last month's Carabao Cup final - the overall trajectory under Mikel Arteta remains overwhelmingly positive. But while the main focus will be on the games ahead, attention will inevitably begin to drift toward the fast-approaching transfer window.
Arsenal's outlay last summer exceeded £250million, with Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze, Martin Zubimendi and Noni Madueke all arriving to strengthen the squad. A similarly lavish spending spree looks unlikely this time around, though shouldn't be entirely ruled out as the Gunners look to cement themselves at the summit of English and European football.
If they do spend big again, sales will no doubt have to be made. With that in mind, here are the latest Arsenal-related headlines.

Gabriel Jesus has admitted he would love to return to former club Palmeiras. With just over a year left on his contract at Arsenal, the Brazilian striker faces an uncertain future.
Having lost his place as the club's first-choice forward to Gyokeres, he could be set to leave this summer - especially if Arsenal are keen to avoid the risk of losing him on a free transfer in 2027.
Previously, Jesus has said he'd be keen to extend his Arsenal contract but his latest comments suggest that an end-of-season move back to Brazil could be on the cards. "I manage to follow [Palmeiras] a lot. That bond between me and Palmeiras was never broken," the 28-year-old told Globo Esporte .

"Whenever I'm in Brazil, I go there, especially when I've had injuries and treated them there. Obviously, I have the dream of returning one day to play, not to end my career. I think about going back every day - my wife can back that up."
Jesus began his career at Palmeiras, joining the club at 14 years old before breaking into the first team in 2015, aged 18. Two years later he moved to Man City, where he went on to score 95 goals in 236 games. He joined Arsenal in 2022 for £45m and has since registered 31 goals in 117 games, despite persistent injury setbacks.
Mikel Arteta is reportedly open to selling Gabriel Martinelli this summer, with a view to adding some fresh blood in attack. The 24-year-old forward has struggled in the league this season, scoring just once in 25 games so far.

According to Team Talk , Arsenal will consider offers for Martinelli at the end of the season. The club have made no secret of their desire to sign a new wide forward, having been linked with Antoine Semenyo before his January move to City, as well as with the likes of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Anthony Gordon and Nico Williams.
Any major arrival would likely require space to be made in the squad - particularly with Bukayo Saka , Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze all competing for minutes across the attacking positions. Given his disappointing recent form, Martinelli looks most at risk of the chop.
