Amad has turned to social media to deliver what might be interpreted as a clue regarding his Manchester United future following the weekend's Premier League encounter against Crystal Palace . Having featured in every league fixture under caretaker manager Michael Carrick , Amad found himself relegated to the substitutes' bench for Sunday's match.

Forward Benjamin Sesko took his spot in the starting eleven. The Slovenian netted what proved to be the decisive strike for the second successive match as United emerged as 2-1 victors.

Perhaps reacting to the selection, Amad has shared an image of himself celebrating in a United kit on his Snapchat profile, accompanied by text which translates to: "What is meant to grow does not stay in the same place forever."

The message might suggest he is contemplating his future, although that may not be in the short term. It could alternatively be alluding to personal growth and acting as an inspirational statement to attempt reclaiming his position in the first team.

Nevertheless, the timing of the post, arriving shortly after his demotion to the bench, may prompt worries about his feelings within the squad.

Amad has been a consistent presence in United's first team this campaign. Across his 23 outings in all competitions, he has registered two goals and contributed three further assists.

His most recent goal contribution was when he found the back of the net in the 4-4 draw against Bournemouth back in December. That match occurred just prior to his departure to join the Ivory Coast for the Africa Cup of Nations, resulting in him missing five Premier League fixtures.

Carrick's choice to substitute Amad with Sesko against Palace followed suggestions from pundits, including United icon Gary Neville . "I think now on Sunday Michael Carrick starts him (Sesko)," he shared with Sky Sports following United's victory over Everton .

"Just feeling how Michael would look at that, I think it would kill the lad if he didn't start. I think what you'll see on Sunday is Cunha to the left, Mbeumo to the right, Sesko up top and Bruno in behind. I think Amad will just slip out for a game, he has been really good but I think Sesko starts."

Amad will be aiming to make an impact, whether that's in the starting line-up, or coming off the bench, when United play again on Wednesday evening.
