Álvaro Arbeloa provides Thibaut Courtois injury update
Real Madrid head coach Álvaro Arbeloa has provided an update on the wellbeing of star goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois .
This comes after the Belgian set alarm bells sounding across Spain’s capital earlier this evening.
Real Madrid were of course back in action a short time ago, making the trip to England for a Champions League Last-16 return leg meeting with Manchester City.
The aforementioned Courtois featured from the off at The Etihad, enjoying a typically impressive opening 45 minutes.
En route to an eventual 2-1 triumph for his teammates, however, the former Chelsea man was hooked from proceedings at the interval, replaced by Andriy Lunin.
This gave rise to immediate fears surrounding a potential incoming spell on the sidelines for Courtois.
Speaking to the media post-match in Manchester, manager Álvaro Arbeloa was therefore drawn on the wellbeing of his no.1.
And ahead of this weekend’s Madrid Derby, the Spanish tactician assured:
“Courtois had some minor discomfort, and we substituted him out as a precaution. I think he’ll be available for Sunday against Atlético de Madrid.”
