Arsenal have reportedly received positive news regarding Noni Madueke's fitness ahead of their crucial Premier League title clash with Manchester City.

The Gunners will travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on City in Sunday afternoon's Premier League match, as they aim to move closer to clinching their first league title 22 years.

Madueke became a fitness doubt for Arsenal after their goalless stalemate with Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League , which proved enough for the Gunners to progress 1-0 on aggregate and secure their place in the competition's semi-final.

The England international was named in the starting XI at the Emirates Stadium , but was replaced in the 63rd minute with what appeared to be an injury concern.

Now, there has been a fresh development regarding Madueke's availability ahead of the trip to face Manchester City . The Sun have reported that Arsenal remain hopeful that Madueke will be fit to play against Pep Guardiola's side this weekend.

The report suggests that, while Madueke is set to undergo additional tests on the problem which forced his withdrawal against Sporting, Arsenal are confident that the forward has escaped a serious injury, with a dead leg being suggested as the cause for the substitution in Wednesday's draw.

Arteta offered an update on Madueke's condition following the match with Sporting. "I don't know, it was something in his [Madueke] knee so we had to take him off," Arteta said.

Madueke has already been sidelined with a knee problem during his maiden campaign at Arsenal following his summer switch from Chelsea , and will be eager to feature in the showdown against City this weekend, reports football .l ondon .

Arsenal head into the fixture against City aiming to bounce back after their 2-1 loss to Bournemouth last weekend allowed their title rivals to reduce the deficit at the summit.

The Gunners currently hold a six-point advantage over City having played one match more, with Sunday's encounter at the Etihad set to prove crucial in the title battle.

Madueke isn't the only fitness worry for Arsenal ahead of the meeting with City. Bukayo Saka sat out the stalemate with Sporting due to an Achilles injury, which has ruled him out since last month.

Saka hasn't appeared for the Gunners since the Carabao Cup final loss to City on March 22, and is in a race against time to regain full fitness ahead of the Premier League fixture between the two sides this weekend.

Sky has upgraded its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle to now include HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+ and Hayu, as well as 135 channels and full Sky coverage of the Premier League and EFL.
