How to watch TNT Sports on HBO Max as discovery+ coverage disappears

HBO Max has finally landed in the UK, and it carries significant consequences for TNT Sports viewers. The streaming platform went live on Thursday (March 26), six years after its US debut, with the UK amongst the last European nations to receive it since the rollout began in 2021.
This means the way football fans watch the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and a wealth of other sports has changed considerably. Since replacing BT Sport in 2023, TNT Sports had been available to stream on smart TVs, smartphones, tablets and other devices via discovery+, but that is no longer the case.
Many viewers will now require access to HBO Max to stream their favourite sporting events, though there are several ways to sign up through providers including Amazon and Sky. Despite the shake-up, however, not everything has been overhauled, as some existing users will be able to use their current login details and will be pleased to learn their subscription costs will remain unchanged.
Here's everything you need to know about HBO Max:
HBO Max subscriptions are available through several retailers across the UK, with the most straightforward option being HBO Max itself. You can sign up at hbomax.com and via the HBO Max app, or through Prime Video , which hosts dedicated channels for both HBO Max and TNT Sports.
Sky is offering free HBO Max subscriptions bundled with its £22 Ultimate TV package , which also includes Netflix, Disney+, Hayu and discovery+ at no additional charge. These five subscriptions alone are valued at roughly £240 per year, with the package further including 135 TV channels such as Sky Atlantic and Sky One.
There are, however, a few important caveats to bear in mind. Most notably, Sky will raise the Ultimate TV bundle price to £24 for anyone signing up after 31st March, so act quickly to lock in the current rate. Sky also states that its prices 'may change' throughout its 24-month contracts.
It's worth noting that TNT Sports is not included within the Sky deal and must be purchased separately. New customers can join the standalone TNT Sports plan at an unchanged price of £30.99 on a monthly rolling basis.
TNT Sports customers who held an existing subscription before it transitioned to HBO Max can use their current login details on the HBO Max app. Those who already pay for a discovery+ account will find their subscription now active on HBO Max instead.
Likewise, those who previously streamed TNT Sports via its Prime Video channel can also use their existing account details.
Following TNT Sports' integration into HBO Max, the broadcaster's coverage of the Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup has migrated to the new platform and is accessible across a range of TNT Sports subscriptions. The same goes for TNT's coverage of rugby, MotoGP, UFC, golf, cricket, snooker, tennis and cycling.
Beyond sport, HBO Max is home to major franchises such as Harry Potter and Game of Thrones, plus much-loved series including Friends, Succession and The Sopranos. It's also become the premier destination for DC titles, Emmy-winning drama The Pitt and Oscar-winning films like Sinners and One Battle After Another.

The price of HBO Max varies depending on your chosen subscription tier, of which there are several. There are also a number of options for TNT Sports access, including a standalone plan or a combined TNT Sports and HBO Max bundle.
Subscribers can cut the cost by opting for a 'saver plan' if they're willing to commit to a 12-month agreement.
