Former Arsenal star Glenn Helder is praying that the Gunners avoid final-day dramatics as they aim to end their wait for the Premier League title. Mikel Arteta ’s side are in prime position to claim the trophy, with a two-point advantage over Manchester City , albeit having played a game more.
And with Arsenal having just ten games left to play, it looks as though the race for the title could potentially go down to the wire. Helder, who played for Arsenal in the mid nineties, is hoping that the North London side can have the trophy wrapped up before the final day.
“It is and always will be my club,” he said to Soccer News . “Unfortunately, they haven’t managed to make a successful final push in recent years. I would wholeheartedly wish it for Arteta. He’s really put in a good performance after Arsène Wenger.
“The league title would complete that. It will be exciting, but it can happen even in the dying seconds of a season.

“Just look at City in 2012 with Sergio Agüero . Hopefully Arsenal won’t make it that exciting, because then some hearts would give out in the stands.”
Arsenal have gone close to the title in each of the last three seasons but have been beaten to the punch by City on each occasion. Speaking ahead of his side’s victory against North London rivals Tottenham , Mikel Arteta claimed that his players should look elsewhere if they didn’t relish the pressure of the title race.
He said: "You ask them the question: Do you want to be part of the noise? Or not? If not go and do something else.

"Be part of a different club or do you want to be Arsenal? And everybody has been demanding for 10 years, 15 years that we need to go back there [fighting for the title] and now we are there, and now what? You don't want noise?
"Noise is part of it and the bullets are part of that and we try to deal with it in the right way and achieve what we are looking for.
"We have to do what we have to do. I don't think it is going to change for anybody. At the end you have to win the next match and if you do that, you are going to be in a much stronger position and that is the only thing we can control."
