Tim Sherwood makes Thomas Frank sack prediction ahead of Tottenham vs Arsenal

Tim Sherwood believes Tottenham will not sack Thomas Frank until the end of the season.

Spurs now sit just five points above 18-placed West Ham in the Premier League following their 2-1 defeat at home to Newcastle United on Tuesday night.

Frank was once again subjected to ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’ chants from Tottenham supporters in the second half of the loss to Newcastle.

However, former Spurs boss Sherwood feels Frank will be given the chance to steer the team clear of the relegation battle.

‘I think if he hasn’t been sacked by now, they’ve had a lot of opportunities to sack Thomas Frank, it hasn’t been good enough, then they won’t sack him,’ Sherwood told Premier League Productions.

‘I think they’ll persevere with him until the end of the season, see if he can get himself out of the hole he is in.

‘It’s the first time I’ve ever seen him deflect, he normally takes all the brunt of it, takes it on the chin, he was talking about, ‘let’s not forget last season as well, it’s accumulation, it wasn’t great last year’, he’s deflecting around, I don’t like that, personally.

‘I just think the brunt stops with you, you’re the manager. He’s going on the self-preservation a little bit, which is unusual for Thomas Frank, I think it’s the first time I’ve ever heard him not take responsibility, full responsibility.’

Former Manchester United and England midfielder Owen Hargreaves added: ‘First of all he’s missing his two best players – [Dejan] Kulusevski and [James] Maddison.

‘I think they’re doing really well in the Champions League but again they had this situation last season, they haven’t invested well and he’s missing his best players, [Mohammed] Kudus as well, so it’s not all his fault.’

Sherwood also believes there is a clear ‘disconnect’ between the supporters and the Spurs squad.

‘Yeah, they’re in a relegation battle, unfortunately, you can’t dress it up any other way, the table doesn’t lie,’ Sherwood said.

‘North London derby comes next, it’s not impossible that they can win that game, they would love to win that game because it would give them the confidence to move on, it would obviously upset their neighbours who are favourites to win the title as well which rubs salt in the wounds.

‘But it’s not getting any easier, they go away to Fulham after that, then they play [Crystal] Palace, then the games come thick and fast after that.

‘It’s about confidence, it’s about getting one result and building and bouncing into the next, at the moment they keep losing games, it becomes a habit in the end.

‘The fans are not with them, there’s a disconnect between the fans and the pitch and this manager, there’s real problems at the moment.’
