Piers Morgan couldn't hide his anger and frustration as he accused Arsenal of "choking" after letting a two-goal lead slip at bottom side Wolves .

The Gunners looked to be in cruise control at Molineux on Wednesday night as they led 2-0 in the second half. However Wolves pulled one back before levelling the score in the 94th minute - putting a massive dent in Arsenal's title hopes in the process.

It means that Mikel Arteta's side have drawn successive games in the Premier League , which has seen the gap at the top of the table shrink. Manchester City can now close to within two points if they win their game in hand - with a game against the Gunners to come later this year.

Arsenal have continued to fall short over recent years, finishing second in each of the past three seasons. On two of those occasions they sat top before eventually surrendering their advantage, which has seen some question whether they have the mentality to get over the line.

And after their latest slip Morgan fears a repeat could be on the cards. He said: "We’re choking. Again." That came after he'd seen the warning signs, also posting: "FFS. What are you doing, Arsenal?"

Morgan wasn't the only member of the Gunners faithful to be frustrated by the collapse. One fan saying: “One thing about Arsenal? We will prove the haters right every single time”. A second bemoaned: “If we’re not good enough, we’re not good enough and you just have to deal with it, life sucks.

Arteta accepted that Arsenal, who do remain in contention for all four trophies this season, only had themselves to blame as they let two points pass them by. He said: "Extremely disappointed, obviously, with the result, with the way the game ended, but we have to blame ourselves.

"I think the performance in the second half didn't show anything close to the standards that are required in this league to win, with the margin that I think should have existed today, especially in the manner that we played the first half. It's a moment of disappointment.

"We all want to talk a lot about how we're feeling, but it's not the moment to do that, because anything that we do has to always and only be with the intention to help the team. Right now I think we have to swallow that frustration. When you are at this level and at the top, you need to take the hit, because today we deserve them as well, and move on as quickly as possible, because on Sunday we have a big game coming up."

The Gunners' next assignment sees them head across north London to face rivals Tottenham , who themselves are struggling with a new manager now at the helm in Igor Tudor.
