The shockwaves from Mo Salah's bombshell announcement are still reverberating across Merseyside. Last week, the Egyptian forward confirmed he will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, drawing the curtain on nine glittering, trophy-laden years at Anfield.

Tributes have poured in from across the footballing world while Reds supporters are still coming to terms with the imminent departure of their talisman and the club's all-time Premier League top scorer.

As the dust slowly begins to settle, focus is already shifting to the two questions that now loom large: what's next for Liverpool? And what's next for Salah ? With that in mind, here are the latest Liverpool-related headlines:

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes Salah could resist a big-money move to the Saudi Pro League and instead opt for a switch to Italy this summer. For years, Saudi Arabian clubs have made Salah their top transfer priority, with a succession of lucrative offers failing to prise him away from Anfield.

Now, with his Liverpool exit confirmed, that long-anticipated move to the Gulf appears more attainable than ever and many expect the 33-year-old to be the next global star to head there.

Carragher, however, sees it differently. Given Salah's enduring influence and elite-level performances, he suspects the forward may prefer to remain in European football a while longer. "I think Mo Salah , the way he's driven like a Ronaldo, I don't see the Saudi thing just yet," the former defender said on The Overlap podcast.

"I can see him in Italy with one of the giants. I just think your career's over when you go there (Saudi Arabia). I think he'll still be looking at his Champions League record or how many goals he can get.

"I still think he thinks, 'I'm still one of the best players, and me leaving now is not the end of my top-level career, I've still got something to give'."

Several names have been floated as potential successors to Salah at Liverpool but few are as tantalising as Michael Olise . The Bayern Munich forward is enjoying a sensational campaign, racking up 16 goals and 27 assists and cementing his status as one of Europe's most exciting attacking talents.

But any hopes of prising the former Crystal Palace star away from Bavaria may be short-lived. Bayern have no intention of selling a player they view as central to their team and there is said to be lingering frustration behind the scenes after Liverpool hijacked Bayern's bid for Florian Wirtz last summer - adding another layer of resistance to any potential talks.

Wirtz arrived at Anfield from Bayer Leverkusen in a blockbuster £116million deal, despite strong interest from both Bayern and Manchester City . The German champions, long accustomed to securing the Bundesliga's standout talents, had expected to land him but Liverpool ultimately won the race for his signature.

While Wirtz has struggled to fully justify his price tag so far, Bayern's irritation reportedly remains. As Fabrizio Romano revealed, the club were unhappy with how Liverpool operated during the negotiations and are reluctant to "contribute to Liverpool's success" by selling them a top player.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, saving members £192 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.
