Manchester United welcome Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday. And after taking charge until the end of the season, manager Michael Carrick is yet to suffer defeat.

The former United midfielder was given the reins after Ruben Amorim was sacked and in what is his second spell in the position, got off to an ideal start with a win against neighbours Manchester City . The positive results have kept on coming.

In his first six matches of this tenure, the Englishman has not seen his side lose, and they've only dropped points once when leaving it late in a 1-1 draw against West Ham .

Whether Carrick will remain in the job after this season ends is a mystery, and a host of other high-profile names have been mooted. But one former player thinks the 44-year-old deserves the position permanently, as Mirror Football brings you the latest from Old Trafford.

For his exploits at Old Trafford already this season, former United player Aaron Wan-Bissaka, now of West Ham, thinks Carrick deserves to become United boss for the foreseeable future.

"He's someone you can trust," Wan-Bissaka, whom Carrick coached at United, told the Daily Mail . "He will also trust you back if you buy into him and what he's looking to do.

"If you trust him, he will trust you. He was quite simple in what he wanted from you. The boys were happy with him and the games he had when he was the manager.

"With him back at the club now, they are in a good place as a team. I think he should be given the full-time role," Wan-Bissaka asserted. "I think he deserves it."

Wan-Bissaka isn't the only one who seems to be impressed with how Carrick has fared during his first few matches of this spell. According to The Telegraph , a senior figure at the club has given the manager a glowing review.

As per their report, an unnamed senior figure stated: "There's a stark difference – you see it." This refers to the previous regime under Amorim, when the side mostly wallowed in the bottom half of the table and failed to secure European football last season.
