Arsenal have reportedly become the leading contenders to sign Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon in the summer.
The forward is also said to be wanted by Liverpool and Manchester United , but the Gunners have reportedly gained an advantage over their competitors and are confident he would be enthusiastic about relocating to London.
The England international almost joined Liverpool in 2024, but at that point, Newcastle were unwilling to allow him to depart for less than £100million. Arsenal are believed to be optimistic about signing him for as low as £75m.
According to The Sun , Arsenal will pursue a deal for the 25-year-old this summer, despite attention from Liverpool and United.
Mikel Arteta is reported to be a long-standing admirer of the winger, with speculation surrounding the Gunners first surfacing earlier this year.
Now, Arsenal are said to be leading the chase ahead of Liverpool and United, and there is confidence within the club that ex-Everton ace Gordon would be receptive to a transfer to north London.
He has two years left on his contract, and whilst Newcastle are reluctant to part with him, there is a sense that a deal could be possible if the right fee was offered.
Despite Gordon's Premier League and international credentials, the same report suggests Arsenal are targeting to secure him for a fee in the region of £75-£80m .
Gordon, however, rejected speculation of a transfer last week and maintains he is content at Newcastle.

When quizzed about the rumours of him being the next major talent to leave Tyneside, he told Chronicle Live : "About me? I haven't seen them. What are they saying?"
Upon learning he's been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool recently, Gordon responded: "It's the same old, same old. I think they just pick names out of a hat. They do (names out of the hat). I haven't heard anything; they might want to tell me before they tell you (the media)."
He added: "I am focused on me and focused on the team, I am focused on right now.
"You look too far in the future and you start to underperform. And believe me I have done that [before] and I am not going to do that now."

The Gunners seemingly wish to bolster their left-wing department, which could cast Gabriel Martinelli's future into doubt. The Brazilian has been in and out of the team throughout the campaign and has only registered three Premier League goal contributions so far.
Beyond Gordon's evident attributes, his blistering speed and goalscoring threat, Arteta is said to appreciate his adaptability, with Eddie Howe deploying him as a No.9 on multiple occasions this season.
Arsenal invested over £250million on eight first-team players last summer, but they are in a position to spend again following extended campaigns in the Champions League and domestic cups.
The Gunners presently occupy top spot in the Premier League and are aiming to bring the title to north London for the first time since 2004. Five points divide them and second-placed Manchester City , though Pep Guardiola's side have a match in hand, with the title battle poised to go down to the wire.
