Liverpool and Manchester United scouting RB Leipzig captain David Raum
Scouts from both Liverpool and Manchester United were present as RB Leipzig secured a 1-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach at the Red Bull Arena at the weekend, according to Teamtalk.
Both Premier League clubs are among a number of top sides linked with Yan Diomande, who was one of the players being monitored – but the report suggests that captain David Raum was also under observation.
After being handed the captain’s armband last summer, the 27-year-old left-back has enjoyed an impressive season, producing three goals and eight assists in 32 appearances.
The German international has previously admitted that a move to the Premier League appeals to him.
"I have never made a secret of the fact that the Premier League is something special. Not only is the league strong in general, but as a physically strong player I really like it," Raum told Sport Bild last year.
With his contract running until 2026, Bulinews asked Raum back in January whether he had held talks with RB Leipzig over a possible extension.
“No, not yet. I just focus on my game and my new role at the club (as captain, editor's note). I have a contract beyond this season, so there's no hurry at the moment,” he told Bulinews.com .
"If the club comes to me, of course we can sit together and talk about it, but at the moment it's not a big topic.
“I'm very happy here at the moment and have a clear goal with the team this season, and that's all I focus on. Playing at my second World Cup after the season is another goal I have, and then we'll see after that.”
