Harry Gray attends Leeds away end at Old Trafford despite Rotherham duty

Harry Gray underlined his Leeds United allegiance by joining the away end at Old Trafford on Monday, where Leeds won 2-1, despite being due to play for Rotherham United at Wigan Athletic tonight.

Leeds Live notes the 17-year-old secured a ticket among the travelling support and was pictured celebrating with fans.

Gray joined Rotherham in January for the second half of the season. He made his senior Leeds debut a year earlier and signed a long-term contract in October, saying at the time he was essentially a Leeds supporter who happens to be a player and that the loan could help him get there.

Rotherham have changed head coach during his stint, with Matt Hamshaw replaced by Lee Clark. Hamshaw praised Gray’s impact and Clark has also been positive, labelling him a special player earlier this month.

The forward is expected to make his 16th Rotherham appearance tonight and has two goals from 15 outings, with five matches remaining of his loan. Daniel Farke has called the move a perfect next step, adding that Gray was prolific at youth level and must progress step by step, using this spell to mature and build physical readiness.
