The FA has fined Chelsea and West Ham for 'improper conduct' during last month's clash in the Premier League , which saw tempers boil over.

The Blues claimed 3-2 victory at Stamford Bridge but the headlines were stolen by a massive brawl in stoppage time. The confrontation kicked off when Joao Pedro responded to Adama Traore's push on Marc Cucurella, leading to an unsavoury scenes involving players from both teams.

West Ham's Jean-Clair Todibo was eventually shown a red card by referee Anthony Taylor for grabbing Joao Pedro around the neck in the scuffle, which came as a result of a lengthy VAR review.

Hammers boss Nuno Espirito Santo was questioned about Todibo's sending off and claimed he didn't understand how only two cards were dished out: "It's strange, with all this confusion, to give only one yellow and one red card. I have to see it again."

An official statement regarding the punishment reads: "An independent Regulatory Commission has fined Chelsea FC and West Ham United FC for the mass confrontation at their Premier League fixture on Saturday 31 January 2026.

"It was alleged that Chelsea FC failed to ensure its players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative way around the 95th minute. It was also alleged that West Ham United FC failed to ensure its players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative and/or violent way at this time.

"Both clubs subsequently admitted the charges against them. The Regulatory Commission imposed fines of £325,000 and £300,000 on Chelsea FC and West Ham United FC respectively following a hearing, and its written reasons for these decisions can be read below."

The frustration may well have stemmed from West Ham blowing their two-goal lead as they headed back across London empty handed, which has done little to ease their relegation fears. West Ham led 2-0 at half-time thanks to Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville.
