Casemiro tells Man Utd to sign Premier League star as his replacement

Casemiro has picked out Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes as his potential replacement once he leaves Manchester United . The Brazilian midfielder announced earlier this year that he would be departing the club upon the expiry of his contract.

There was an option written into the deal that would see that extended by a further campaign but that will not be taken up. That has left the Red Devils with time to consider potential replacements for the former Real Madrid star, albeit it appears that Casemiro himself has had a big say.

According to Spanish outlet AS , Newcastle midfielder Guimaraes is right at the top of their potential shopping list. He comes recommended by compatriot Casemiro. The Red Devils reportedly see Guimaraes as a vital addition as they look to the future.

Another Newcastle star in Sandro Tonali is also being considered, with United thought to be ahead of Juventus in the race for the Italian due to the Serie A side’s precarious financial situation.

Newcastle will of course be less than keen to lose either of the duo but a drop in revenue caused by a failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League might force their hand.

“I've got to say, Case has been fantastic since I came, really, on and off the pitch, and experience is a great thing if you use it in the right way," United coach Michael Carrick has said about Casemiro.

"And again, I think over time, being a senior player here is almost the responsibility of the example and helping the young players, helping the rest of the boys and passing on your experiences in a positive way.

"Yeah, he's been top since I came in, in so many ways, and he's been a pleasure to work with, and I look forward to continuing with him for a few months yet."

On the prospect of replacing him, the former midfielder added: "Yeah, well, listen, it's an important position, I think. Not being biased, obviously, as being a midfielder, but I think it is an important position to try and tie everything together.

"You’re connected to the whole team, and that's sometimes emotionally, a little bit mentally, and showing that composure and understanding of the game a little bit.

"And Case’s has had a big influence within the group on that. So, something we're fully aware of moving forward, for sure."

Other midfield targets who have been linked with moves to Old Trafford include Brighton star Carlos Baleba and Nottingham Forest ’s Elliot Anderson.
