Brentford hand Keith Andrews new SIX-YEAR contract as boss closes in history

Brentford have handed Keith Andrews a new six-year contract to reward the Irishman for a stellar maiden campaign in charge at The Gtech Community Stadium.

Eyebrows were raised in some quarters when the Bees announced that Andrews, 45, would be stepping up from Thomas Frank's coaching set-up to replaced the revered Dane when he was lured away by Tottenham in the summer. But Andrews has excelled in his first senior management role to leave fans dreaming of Europe.

Andrews currently has Brentford seventh in the Premier League standings, just five points off their neighbours, Chelsea , in fifth place.

Under Andrews' leadership, Brentford are on course to eclipse their highest ever points tally in the Premier League (59) and are also in the fifth round of the FA Cup , where they will face West Ham .

Brentford's director of football, Phil Giles, praised the "outstanding" job has Andrews has done since taking up the role back in June, revealing that it was always the club's intention to back him with fresh terms when the time was right, with Andrews now committed until 2032.

“When Keith accepted the job last summer, he signed a three-year contract, but the intention was always that we’d review this at the earliest opportunity,” Giles said.

“Given our progress this season, I’m really happy that we have agreed this extension within the first nine months.

“Keith has done an outstanding job, the team are playing well and the things we thought we could be better at this season have all improved.

“He is a really good fit for the club and the way we like to work, as he is able to bring the best out of both players and staff alike.

“Everyone at Brentford will be pleased to hear that Keith will be with us for many years to come, and I’m excited by what we can all achieve together in the coming seasons.”
