Mikel Arteta's Arsenal could secure a reduced fee for Porto's Victor Froholdt, with the club expressing interest in the 20-year-old. Reports of a potential transfer for the midfielder surfaced on Thursday.
The Times reports that the Gunners are among a number of Premier League clubs to have monitored the Denmark international this season. Newcastle United are also said to be keen.
The report indicates that Arsenal have been told it would take approximately £52million to bring Froholdt to north London in the summer. That represents a £21million reduction from the £73million release clause written into his contract, a sum Porto acknowledges is unrealistic.
Froholdt has caught the eye during his maiden season in Portugal following his switch from Copenhagen last summer. In the 2025/26 campaign, he has netted eight times and registered six assists across 50 appearances in all competitions to date.
Despite being only 20 years old, the midfielder, who typically operates on the right of a midfield three, has already earned 10 senior caps for Denmark.

He will not, however, be participating in this summer's World Cup, as Denmark fell to Czechia on penalties in the play-off final last month.
Alongside Arsenal and Newcastle , Danish publication Bold reports that Liverpool are also tracking the midfielder. He remains under contract with Porto until 2030.
Sky has upgraded its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle to now include HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+ and Hayu, as well as 135 channels and full Sky coverage of the Premier League and EFL.
Heading into the summer transfer window, Arteta 's side have identified a new central midfielder and full-back as key targets ahead of the upcoming season.
However, securing a new left-winger remains the top priority.
