Women's Football: FC Bayern win their fourth successive Frauen-Bundesliga title
FC Bayern are the Frauen-Bundesliga champions for the fourth time in the row after a 3-2 win against Union Berlin at Alten Försterei on Wednesday. Germany captain Guila Gwinn scored the winner after coming on as a late substitute.
Second-placed Wolfsburg drew goalless away at Werder Bremen in a game both teams finished with ten players. It's the seventh time Bayern won the top level of the women's championship that started in 1990/91.
Eintracht Frankfurt were the first club to win the championship seven times, with all titles achieved before the club changed its old name, 1. FFC Frankfurt, in 2020. Wolfsburg, who last won the title in 2022, are also tied with the two clubs with seven.
There are still four league games left to play for José Barcala's side, while they face Wolfsburg in the cup final next month. Before all of that, Bayern will host European giants Barcelona in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final tie at Allianz Arena on Saturday.
