Wayne Rooney reckons neither Arsenal nor Manchester City will drop points between now and the final whistle of the season - a outcome that would see Mikel Arteta's men clinch the Premier League title by just two points. The Gunners must bounce back from City's emphatic 3-0 victory over Brentford on Saturday when they take on West Ham at the London Stadium.

Arsenal can take another massive stride towards the Premier League crown despite City refusing to let go of the race. Goals from Jeremy Doku, Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush wrapped up the win that hauled Pep Guardiola's men to within two points of the north Londoners.

City still have nine points left to fight for, including a game in hand against Crystal Palace , scheduled for Wednesday (May 13th). Arsenal equally have nine points remaining to play for, kicking off with their trip to the Hammers.

Following that fixture, they face Burnley at the Emirates before rounding off their league campaign against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, ahead of the Champions League final showdown with Paris Saint-Germain in Budapest on May 30. City, meanwhile, must navigate the FA Cup final against Chelsea before their last two league outings - away at Bournemouth and at home to Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium, reports Football London .

Speaking on Match of the Day , Rooney weighed up both teams' remaining schedules, concluding that each side looks set to win every one of their outstanding fixtures.

"I think City just have to try and win their games, I said this last week that I felt City would drop points against Everton ," Rooney said. "I feel both teams will win every game [from now], which makes Arsenal champions."

When questioned about what the Arsenal squad might be feeling ahead of a possible title triumph, Rooney explained: "Excitement, nervous. You get every emotion and obviously with Man City winning today, now it's on Arsenal to go out and win the game against West Ham.

"Every type of emotion you think you can have, you go through over this next couple of weeks and it's brilliant when you're in it and when you get out of it at the right time then it's such a good feeling. But when you're on the wrong side of it, it's one of the worst feelings in the world ."

Should both sides claim victory in their remaining fixtures, Arsenal would conclude the season on 85 points with City finishing on 83.
