Larger-than-life US rapper Snoop Dogg has an ‘in’ with a host of UK celebrities, and calls David Beckham his 'brother'. Now, he’s teasing a future collaboration with X Factor boss, Simon Cowell , who he goes back years with.

The Drop It Like Its Hot star told the Mirror , “For real, I have been talking about working with my boy Simon for over ten years. There are times when it could have happened, when it nearly happened, but one of our schedules always got in the way.”

The dad-of-four, who claimed Simon is one of the ‘great talent scouts of all time’, believes the music mogul, 66, who recently helped form new boyband December 10 , still has ‘one great new show left in him’.

Praising the unifying nature of the family-friendly show he said, “TV has moved on, the way people watch TV has moved on - but shows like The X Factor used to bring a nation together - and we need more of that.”

Snoop has had a minority share in Swansea FC since last July . Admitting that he’ll be spending more time in the UK than ever before, watching how his side Swansea fares, he thinks now could be the time to make some magic happen, as he teased a dinner date with the music supremo.

“Maybe this is the time to make the Snoop and Simon TV partnership happen”, he said. “I got a few ideas that could be huge, but I got to speak to Simon first. I should be back in the UK in a couple of weeks - so I am going to take him out for a curry, and a business chat.”

Snoop, who has referred to the 66-year-old as a "bad a** Brit", previously expressed an interest in finding a "hip-hop superstar" for the UK version of The X Factor - which was axed in 2021 due to plummeting viewing figures, after 17 years.

The hip-hop icon also previously revealed he was offered a judging role on the US version but turned it down, believing he’d ultimately be better as a mentor.

Snoop was also quick to pour cold water on the idea that there is any bad blood between himself and Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds , who is almost as passionate as he is when it comes to his own Welsh side - Wrexham AFC .

Speaking in his trademark laidback style about the Hollywood star, who bought the club with actor pal Rob McElhenney in February 2021 for roughly £2 million, he said, “There is no rivalry with Ryan at all! I can see why people want to hype that because there are similarities in what we are trying to achieve.

Snoop, who has pledged to fire the Championship side back to the Premier League and transform Swansea into the ‘Vegas of Wales ’, added, “Ryan’s just doing his thing, and I am doing my thing. The plans and ambitions I got for Swansea are bigger than people can imagine. I don't have the time to focus on what anybody else is doing.”

That said, it hasn’t stopped the pair - who worked together on 2013 animated film Turbo - engaging in some playful banter . On one occasion, it included Reynolds posting a "dog not included" joke regarding his team's kit on social media, prompting Swansea to launch their own kit, with the tagline "Dogg is included".
