Roy Keane likens Benjamin Šeško to Ryanair flight in x-rated rant at the striker

Manchester United’s unbeaten run under interim head coach Michael Carrick was just about kept alive on Tuesday night thanks to a late Benjamin Šeško equaliser against West Ham United.

Šeško’s wonderful, improvised finish deep into stoppage time meant United left the London Stadium with a share of the spoils after Tomáš Souček gave the home side the lead.

It has been a mixed bag for the big Slovenian striker since his arrival at Old Trafford, but a couple of recent, dramatic late strikes have done wonders in endearing him to the United faithful.

However, former United captain Roy Keane is refusing to get carried away with the young striker and compared him to a Ryanair flight in a recent episode of The Overlap.

As reported by MSN News , Keane, in typical style, poured cold water on the praise for the 21-year-old who notched his sixth goal of the season against the Hammers.

The tirade came after the panel lauded his impressive finish in midweek and the suggestion that it could be a sign of good things to come for the summer signing.

“Šeško is like Ryanair. You know when they land, and they play the music: ‘We’ve landed on time’? That’s Šeško and United. It’s what he’s supposed to do,” said Keane.

“I’m tired of you saying that he’s supposed to do something, and you score a goal and everyone… Manchester United , expectations, you’re like Ryanair. If a flight’s on time, everyone’s f—ing laughing and joking, but usually you’re going to be two hours late, and then everyone thinks that’s the norm.”

As humorous as the rant came across, and whatever truth Keane’s sentiments might hold, he would surely have been better served acknowledging Šeško’s effort and moving on.

It is clear it has not been smooth sailing since his arrival, but the young man has now made a crucial impact in two recent games, gaining United three points in the process.

His thrilling winner against Fulham at Old Trafford has now been backed up by Tuesday’s fine effort, showing he does have something to offer this United side.

Šeško is yet to start a game under Carrick but will no doubt be banging on his manager’s door for a spot in the XI against Everton in just under two weeks’ time.

Despite United’s impressive run of late, they were crying out for a focal point against a West Ham side who sat in a low block, similar to the way David Moyes will set up the Toffees in the next fixture.

Šeško does allow United to throw balls into the box as a plan B and has proven he knows where the net is if he is given chances in and around the goal.

Carrick will be hoping the 22-year-old can continue his decent form between now and the end of the season and will no doubt see him as an ace up his sleeve in United’s pursuit of Champions League qualification.
