Wolves boss Rob Edwards says he has "definitely given up" on some of his squad, who will be shown the door as part of a huge clear out at the relegated side.

The Molineux outfit had their demise confirmed several weeks ago having been rooted to the bottom of the table for months. Edwards' arrival came too late having replaced Vitor Pereira, but the team have continued to put in some dire showings as the season draws to a close.

The latest of those came at Brighton , who secured a comfortable 3-0 win. They were trailing by two within five minutes after a Jack Hinshelwood header inside 35 seconds opened the scoring. Lewis Dunk doubled their lead minutes later.

Wolves had been in the Premier League since 2018, previously challenging the elite when they first arrived as they threatened the Champions League spots, but their fall has been notable.

So much so that Edwards quickly realised certain players were going to be shown the door. Quizzed on whether he'd given up on some of his squad he replied: "Yeah, definitely. Some of them have got to go, we're bottom of the league. It's been embarrassing. They've got to go.

"We've got two more games, so suck it up, keep our head down, take whatever we're gonna have to take for the next couple of weeks and then we can really get to work. We know there's going to be a lot of change."

The Wolves boss, who has secured memorable wins over Liverpool and Aston Villa to ensure that Wolves don't end up as, statistically, the worst team in Premier League history, was scathing about their display at the Amex. Edwards claimed that they were emotionally not there.

"It's incredibly frustrating, it looked like we were still in our nice hotel for the first five minutes," he said. "The start of the game was atrocious. We find ourselves 1-0 down before we've really had a kick and then the defending for the corner was horrible. A couple of people not doing their jobs. Two-nil down after five minutes against a team that's already better than you, you've got slim to no chance."

Pressed on some of the poor decisions made on the pitch, he added: "I can't [account for it] but we've had a lot of it and that's why we are where we are - crazy decision. There was a lack of focus there from the beginning, people not valuing doing their job."

Sky has upgraded its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle to now include HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+ and Hayu, as well as 135 channels and full Sky coverage of the Premier League and EFL.
