Their most recent Premier League triumph came on March 14, and with title contenders Arsenal looming this weekend, the wait for a win may continue. Howe has faced intense scrutiny, with mounting speculation that he could be sacked unless he engineers a swift turnaround. His position is due to be reviewed in discussions with PIF chiefs next week.

Newcastle may have already accepted losing Anthony Gordon this summer, after The Times reported they would be willing to part with the England international. Sky Sports reports that Bayern Munich are interested in the winger and that Gordon is attracted to the idea, having been impressed by Michael Olise's development.

The 25-year-old is valued at approximately £75million, with Newcastle unwilling to entertain offers below that figure. Should this transaction materialise, the Magpies will have substantial funds at their disposal in the transfer market.

Newcastle are pursuing several attacking targets, including Porto's William Gomes. The 20-year-old has excelled in Portugal's top division this season, netting 13 times and averaging a goal every 139 minutes.

The winger has drawn comparisons to former Liverpool star Luis Diaz, thanks to his explosive pace and technical ability. Reports suggest that a fee of approximately £43m would be sufficient to secure a deal.

While this represents a substantial sum, it leaves roughly £30m of Gordon's potential transfer fee available, and Newcastle may look domestically to land another star, West Ham's Jarrod Bowen.

The 29-year-old is an established Premier League performer, with 144 goal contributions for the Hammers. West Ham previously placed a £100m valuation on Bowen to deter rival clubs.

However, this price tag could drop considerably if West Ham are relegated to the Championship. A combination of Bowen and Gomes - an emerging talent and a proven star - could be precisely what Newcastle require to launch a fresh campaign.

Newcastle could raid the Portuguese league once more in a single window to bolster their defence. Ousmane Diomande has been shining for Sporting CP this season and has already attracted interest from leading Premier League clubs.

His displays against Arsenal in the Champions League, in particular, captured the attention of prospective buyers. A Bola reports that Newcastle and Manchester United are both interested in the 22-year-old. Despite his tender age, Diomande already boasts over 120 appearances for Sporting and has demonstrated his ability to excel at the highest level of European football.

The centre-back remains under contract in Portugal until 2030, with a release clause of approximately £69m. Despite this substantial fee, Sporting are believed to be willing to accept around £43m if necessary.

Diomande is also anticipated to feature in the Ivory Coast squad for the forthcoming World Cup. Should he impress on football's grandest stage, Newcastle may need to act swiftly to land their target.

South American prodigy Eduardo Conceicao represents another potential target for Newcastle. The youngster is only 16, but has attracted interest from La Liga heavyweights Barcelona.

Conceicao has registered eight goal contributions in 13 appearances for Palmeiras. The attacking midfielder will be unable to complete an official transfer until he reaches 18 in 2028.

Nevertheless, clubs are already permitted to negotiate an advance agreement, and TeamTalk reports that Newcastle are holding discussions. Chelsea pursued this approach to sign Estevao Willian from Palmeiras, and he is presently flourishing at Stamford Bridge. Newcastle may emulate their Premier League counterparts and potentially discover a new hero at St James' Park.
