Millwall will be aiming to pinch second place on the final day of the Championship season when they host already-relegated Oxford United at The Den. The hosts will be looking to avoid another banana skin moment against the U's at home having lost their last four meetings at home to nil as well.

The hosts are priced as the heavy favourites with BetGoodwin at 1/3 to seal the deal and secure a chance of automatic promotion while a draw is 4/1 with Betfred and a shock Oxford win is 7/1 William Hill for the already-relegated side. The Lions go into Saturday third, one point behind second-placed Ipswich, with Oxford’s drop to League One already sealed. Alex Neil’s side are locked in a three-way race for the automatic promotion spot after taking 80 points from 45 games. They were briefly level with Ipswich last weekend thanks to Macaulay Langstaff’s 90th-minute leveller in a 1-1 draw at relegated Leicester, but Ipswich’s midweek draw with Southampton has left Millwall a point off second and a point ahead of Middlesbrough.

Millwall will end a 36-year wait for top-flight football if they beat Oxford and Ipswich fail to win at home to QPR. The Lions have won two of their last three, but have lost their final league game in four of the last five seasons, and they are without a win in their last four league meetings with Oxford.

Oxford, meanwhile, will be playing their last Championship match for the foreseeable future. Relegation was confirmed before last weekend’s 4-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday — their sixth victory since Matt Bloomfield took charge in January (D7 L7) — but it wasn’t enough to prevent the former Luton boss from suffering a second straight relegation in the division.

Despite scoring four last time out, Oxford have failed to score in 18 of 45 league games, bettered only by Sheffield Wednesday. Their away form has also been damaging, with the second-worst record in the league: 18 points from 22 trips.

Millwall are set to be without Lukas Jensen, Joe Bryan, Daniel Kelly and Massimo Luongo through injury. Josh Coburn will also need to be checked after going off early against Leicester, while Caleb Taylor, Alfie Doughty and Billy Mitchell are all doubts.

Oxford, meanwhile, are missing Greg Leigh, Brian De Keersmaecker, Tyler Goodrham and Przemyslaw Placheta. Captain Cameron Brannagan is also expected to be sidelined after picking up an injury inside the opening 20 minutes against Sheffield Wednesday. Yunus Konak could deputise for Brannagan in midfield, and Sam Long and Myles Peart-Harris are both in contention to start.
