Manchester United boost as Patrick Dorgu steps up recovery ahead of Leeds clash
Manchester United have been handed a lift before facing Leeds United, with Danish international winger Patrick Dorgu stepping up his rehabilitation after a lengthy absence.
The club said in a statement that Dorgu is now working individually on the pitches at Carrington, marking the next phase of his recovery. It added there is still no timeline for a first-team return, with the current aim for him to be back with the squad before the end of the season.
The 21-year-old had been in fine form before suffering a hamstring injury in January's 3-2 win at Arsenal, when he was withdrawn with nine minutes remaining. In that match he made it 2-1 in the 50th minute with a shot off the underside of the bar.
His productive spell also included a Goal of the Month against Newcastle United on Boxing Day, and he contributed one of United's two goals against Manchester City. Since the setback he has been on a strength and conditioning programme with medical staff.
Manchester United also outlined plans to travel to Dublin next week for an intensive training camp ahead of the run-in to secure UEFA Champions League football.
Leeds visit Old Trafford next Monday night after today's FA Cup quarter-final at West Ham, as their Premier League survival bid resumes.
