Liverpool vs West Ham Premier League preview, team news and prediction

Liverpool host relegation-threatened West Ham at Anfield on Saturday, aiming to strengthen their Champions League hopes. The Reds have a strong record against the Hammers, winning seven of the last eight meetings and losing just once in their last 19 league encounters.
Liverpool have developed a reputation for late drama, with more goals scored in the 90th minute or later in their matches than any other team this season. Alexis Mac Allister’s 97th-minute winner at Nottingham Forest last weekend secured a second consecutive 1-0 victory for Arne Slot’s side, who now sit sixth in the table, three points behind fourth-placed Manchester United.
West Ham, meanwhile, have picked up 11 points from their last six matches but remain 18th, two points from safety. They tend to start fast—scoring a league-high 59% of their goals in the first half—but have won just once in their last 52 league trips to Anfield. History and recent form both favor Liverpool heading into this clash.

Liverpool remain without injured quartet Alexander Isak (leg), Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni (both knee), and Wataru Endo (ankle). However, Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong could return from back and hamstring issues, respectively. Wirtz was a late withdrawal against Forest but is not expected to be out long and could reclaim his preferred No.10 role. Frimpong’s readiness to start is uncertain, so Dominik Szoboszlai may continue at right-back if needed.
Cody Gakpo’s poor form puts his starting spot at risk, with 17-year-old Rio Ngumoha or Federico Chiesa possible replacements. Mohamed Salah and Hugo Ekitike are likely to keep their places in attack, though Salah is goalless in his last nine league games and Ekitike has failed to score in seven of his last eight.
For West Ham, Freddie Potts serves the second of a three-match ban, while Pablo Felipe (calf) and Lukasz Fabianski (back) remain sidelined. Nuno could switch to a back five, recalling Jean-Clair Todibo to join Konstantinos Mavropanos and Axel Disasi in central defence, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and El Hadji Malick Diouf as wing-backs. Mateus Fernandes, Tomas Soucek, and Soungoutou Magassa are competing for midfield spots, while Crysencio Summerville and captain Jarrod Bowen are expected to support Valentin Castellanos up front. Castellanos recently scored his first Premier League goal in West Ham’s last away game at Burnley.
