Liverpool are seeking to put another huge dent in Manchester City ’s fading Premier League title hopes this afternoon.
Pep Guardiola ’s side are nine points adrift of Arsenal after the Gunners’ victory over Sunderland on Saturday.
They can reduce that gap again today but they will have to get a win at a ground where they have tasted victory just once in the last 22 Premier League matches.
Liverpool’s defence of the crown is long gone but 10 goals in their last two matches at least has them in goal scoring form again.
The Reds will be without Jeremie Frimpong however with the Dutchman forced off in the 6-0 win over Qarabag with a muscle injury.
Joe Gomez is also a major doubt although he could be deemed fit enough to make the bench.
City meanwhile were handed a major boost this week with Ruben Dias back on the bench as an unused substitute in the Carabao Cup victory over Newcastle.
He has not played since the 1-1 draw at the start of January due to a hamstring injury and while it may be too soon to start, he will surely get some minutes on Merseyside.
