Liverpool are understood to be eyeing Yan Diomande as a potential successor to Mohamed Salah . The Reds will require a new winger this summer following confirmation earlier this month that Salah will depart after nine years at Anfield, and are believed to be pursuing a different type of attacker to Salah in an effort to develop their approach.

The forward penned a new two-year deal in April 2025, but both sides have "reached an agreement" which will see him leave a year before his contract was scheduled to run out. That means Liverpool will not collect a transfer fee for the 33-year-old, but is poised to make substantial savings on his considerable wages.

The Daily Mail suggest that RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande is on their radar, having been monitored closely by the Reds. However, it is understood that the Bundesliga club are demanding €100million (£87.3m) for the young talent, and this could deter Liverpool and other interested parties.

Premier League competitors Manchester United , Arsenal , Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are also believed to be keen alongside Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich . It is suggested that interest in Diomande stems from the Reds having identified the requirement to prioritise signing a more skilful, quick winger to break down a compact defence.

The report says: "Liverpool have noticed that the game is evolving and they could turn to a more tricky" option out wide. Other names mentioned include Yankuba Minteh, Bazoumana Toure, Francisco Conceicao, Anthony Gordon, Bradley Barcola and Rodrygo.

Liverpool's reported interest in a new type of winger has previously been touched upon by Reds manager Arne Slot , who acknowledges that the Premier League has changed. He said: "We are aware that football has changed in England. We will always try to have our own style, but we cannot shut our eyes for the new reality.

"And that it's not only low blocks, it's also set-piece after set-piece after set-piece. One of the reasons why we haven't been successful in the first half of the season was mainly set-pieces. Yes, I'm fully involved in next season and we have these discussions as well.

"How can we unlock a low block? Wingers are very important to unlock a low block, as we noticed last season with Mo and Luis Diaz.

"Replacing Mo on a one-on-one is probably impossible. So we have to find a way of making it work that the team is stronger."
