Gabriel Jesus didn't take kindly to a Manchester City fan calling him "Judas" as he warmed up during Arsenal's loss at the Etihad .

The Brazilian was back at the stadium he used to call home, playing on the blue side of Manchester from 2016 until 2022 when he headed down to the capital. Jesus has been part of the Gunners' recent rise, but been unable to inspire them to silverware.

The ex-City star is the only Premier League winner in Arsenal's ranks, and was keen to remind the fan of his exploits at the Etihad. After being accused of betrayal he walked over to the fan and said: "I won 11 titles here" in a clip doing the rounds on social media.

Among those were four league titles, one FA Cup and three League Cups with Jesus part of the 2019 side that won the domestic treble. It was also the Brazilian who scored the winning goal on the last day of the 2017/18 season to ensure City became the one and only team to hit 100 points in a campaign.

He's been unable to reach those heights since leaving Manchester with Arsenal consistently coming up just short. There is a genuine fear that could happen once again after they were beaten in Manchester. City can go top on Wednesday night if they beat Burnley as they continue to seize on Arsenal's late season collapse.

Jesus has only returned from a long-term injury in recent months but is struggling to establish himself as a starter. Despite his obvious qualities he's never been a prolific goalscorer, which was cited as a concern when he moved to Arsenal, and the club have had to dip into the market to address their striker problem.

The Brazilian was an unused substitute as he watched Arsenal go down at City, Erling Haaland scoring a second-half winner for the hosts. Despite the reverse, Arsenal's fourth in their last six games, they remain defiant that they can still end their 22-year wait for a league title.

Arteta, who is under pressure to end a six-year trophy drought, said after the loss: "The positive thing is we have seen the level, we can cope with that, and not just that but do even better. There are five games to go, but we're going to give a real go for it. We have full belief we can do it. Today we have shown the team that we are. It's still in our hands, and it's there for the taking.

"We were close, not close enough. But now we have to reset. We lost an opportunity today, a big one. But there is still another five to go. There are still a lot of positives today."
