Barcelona’s top defensive target not interested in Liverpool move; only wants two clubs

Alessandro Bastoni has emerged as one of the most sought-after players heading into the summer transfer window.

The Italian international is regarded as one of the top defenders in Serie A, but after a long spell at Inter Milan, many believe it is time for him to move on.

Barcelona have emerged as a potential suitor for Bastoni, even identifying him as the priority target in the defensive department. But the club are also facing strict competition from Liverpool.

However, a recent report from Mundo Deportivo suggests Bastoni is not too keen on the idea of joining simply any club this summer, in order to leave Inter Milan.

In fact, the Italian considers Inter the club of his life and the only reason he could consider leaving is if Barcelona come knocking on the door.

It was reported yesterday that the defender views Barcelona as an ideal destination for him, especially from a sporting perspective.

As such, the player is willing to join the Catalans even on the same salary structure as Inter Milan. He wants to join Barça for sporting reasons, more than anything else.

This does mean the Italian international is not interested in Liverpool. He has his heart set on a move to Barcelona . In case that doesn’t happen, he is more than happy staying at Inter.

Inter, though, are making life difficult for Barcelona by commanding a €70-80 million. To that end, Bastoni plans to sit down with Inter Milan and negotiate with the club, asking them to reduce the price tag.

This is, of course, depending on whether or not Barcelona are able to conjure up enough funds to make a tangible offer this summer.
