Arsenal will turn their attention to the FA Cup following Thursday’s Premier League clash with Brentford. The Gunners will host Wigan Athletic in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday as Mikel Arteta ’s men look to continue their remarkable charge across four competitions this season.

The north Londoners currently lead the league table and are in the Carabao Cup final , having refrained from making first-team signings in January. That’s because Arsenal bosses believe they have what it takes to finally land a major trophy this season, while preserving their funds for the summer transfer window.

Yet, injuries remain the greatest threat to Arteta’s ambitions this term, with news of another key player’s absence emerging in recent days. Nevertheless, Arsenal are active behind the scenes in the search for more quality to add to their squad, as Mirror Football now brings you two updates from the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal are reportedly keeping tabs on Newcastle midfielder Lewis Miley. SportsBoom report the Gunners have already sent scouts to watch the 19-year-old starlet in action for the Magpies.

Miley has also attracted attention from Manchester City and Aston Villa , with the report claiming the trio of Premier League clubs have identified him as a “must-watch” talent. Newcastle, however, are desperate to keep hold of the youngster.

Eddie Howe has already been made to regret selling midfielder Elliot Anderson to Nottingham Forest in July 2024 for £35m. Anderson’s departure at the time was due to Newcastle’s concerns about PSR, and they are keen to avoid a similar scenario with Miley, where an academy graduate goes on to become a Premier League and England star.

Miley is even more crucial to Howe's set-up presently, having made 30 appearances in all competitions this season. But Arsenal would do well to keep an eye on Newcastle’s financial situation and, should the Magpies be forced to raise funds, potentially pounce in the summer transfer window in a repeat of Anderson's exit.

Kai Havertz is reportedly set to miss between three to four weeks of football following his latest injury blow. Havertz missed the second half of the previous campaign with a hamstring injury before being side-lined with a knee injury since the opening game of this season.

The German had only recently returned to the fold after missing a large chunk of the season, enjoying a string of impressive performances, where he scored two and notched two assists in seven appearances.

But, according to The Mail , the versatile attacker has been ruled out for several weeks with a muscular problem, having already missed the trip to Brentford on Thursday. Given the timeframe being reported, Havertz could miss the next five fixtures against Wigan, Wolves , Tottenham , Chelsea and Brighton .
