Antoine Semenyo has warned Liverpool that Manchester City are 'fired up' for Sunday's crunch showdown on Merseyside.

Pep Guardiola has won just once at Anfield in 10 attempts since taking charge of City in 2016. And that triumph was secured behind closed doors, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Guardiola knows he can ill-afford more slip ups this time round, as he bids to overhaul Arsenal in the title race.

City could be nine points adrift of Arsenal before kicking off against Arne Slot's men, should the league leaders beat Sunderland .

The pressure is on City to take down their bitter rivals. And Semenyo admits Guardiola's side are pumped up for one of the most explosive cashes of the season.

He said: "As an outsider before joining here, it was always entertaining watching City and Liverpool . To be part of it, I’m so grateful, but it’s going to be a challenge.

"But we’re prepared for it and we'll be fired up for it on the day. I’m looking forward to the game."

Marc Guehi, meanwhile, has warned Arsenal that City will get stronger between now and the end of the season - and fully believe they can win another title. Guehi said: "We’re definitely going in the right direction. It’s important we keep improving as a team.

"Winning games is massive and big in any competition, so as long as we keep going like that, I don't see why we can't achieve our goals this season."
